Let humans and AI actually read the same book, leaving both voices on the same page.
Coread uses unified server-side paging to allow humans and AI to see the same page numbers. Users read, underline, and comment in the browser, and AI flips through the book, annotates, and replies through MCP, and can receive notifications of new comments.

PROJECT INTRO
Project introduction
Coread is a self-hosted web page that allows people and AI to read books side by side. It supports EPUB import, chapter recognition, unified coordinate paging, underlining, comments and replies, reading progress, table of contents, offline caching, and export with annotations.
AI reads book pages, adds comments, and updates progress via stdio, SSE, or Streamable HTTP MCP. The user's new annotations can also be actively pushed to the AI through tmux injection or webhook, so that the other party does not have to wait until the next time they flip through the book to see it.
- Suitable for:People who want to read novels, non-fiction or materials with AI and retain comments from both sides for a long time.
- Platform:Self-hosted web; requires Node.js and SQLite.
- Usage:Import EPUB, read it in the browser, and then connect the supporting MCP service to the AI client.
- License:MIT。
