Codex
@OPENAI
Let AI directly enter your project, read code, modify files, run commands, and actually complete the task.
Open a project or folder and tell Codex what you want to accomplish. It can read relevant code and information, edit files, run development tools already on the computer, and submit commands, changes and verification results to users for review.

PROJECT INTRO
Project introduction
Codex is the official coding agent of OpenAI. After the user selects a project or folder and describes the goal, it can read the code, find problems, edit files, run commands and tests, and report back what was accomplished and how it was verified.
Ordinary users can learn about and download desktop products from the official Codex page; developers can also use the Codex CLI in the terminal, or use corresponding integrations in editors such as VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Xcode and JetBrains. Longer tasks can also be completed in parallel in the cloud environment.
- Suitable for:People who want AI to directly understand real projects, modify files, run tools, and deliver checkable results.
- Use the entry:Desktop app, Codex CLI, IDE extensions and Codex Cloud.
- Usage:Go to the official OpenAI Codex page, select the appropriate entrance, download and install or log in to open the project and describe the task.
- Permission boundaries:Codex only works within the file, command, network, and application permissions granted by the user; execution processes and changes can be reviewed by the user.
