Add an unlock screen and cover chat content when a companion app leaves the foreground.
This guide helps Android frontend developers add an app lock and a custom background cover for companion conversations. Known timing and device limitations mean it is not an absolute privacy guarantee.

PROJECT INTRO
Project introduction
Drawn from the author's chat frontend, the guide covers PIN verification, timeout and screen-off policies, optional system biometrics, custom recent-app covers, and screenshot controls. It explains timing between Activity lifecycle events and task snapshots and provides reference snippets.
This tutorial requires changes to the app. The author documents covers appearing during dialogs and brief real-content flashes on some foreground transitions. Findings come mainly from a specific Android device and do not guarantee behavior on every ROM. An app lock is not equivalent to encrypted chat storage.
- Suitable for:Android frontend developers seeking to reduce bystanders' access to visible companion chats.
- Usage:Integrate lifecycle, verification, and cover logic, then test app switching, dialogs, and screen-off behavior on target devices.
- Limitations:Known content flashes and device differences remain. It does not protect against root or ADB and is not a standalone installable app.
- License:The README specifies CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Credit ResetZero_1211 when sharing or adapting and follow the non-commercial and share-alike conditions.
